The Industry Education Council of Hamilton fosters partnerships among industry, business, education and other community groups in Hamilton, that support experiential learning opportunities for all learners

Established in 1978 as Canada’s first Industry-Education Council (IEC), we are a not-for-profit organization located in Hamilton, Ontario.

We champion career exploration. Through programming, group mentoring and facilitating partnership discussions, we help our stakeholders showcase their industry or sector, to their future workforce, through practical hands-on learning opportunities.

Over the years, we have worked on various projects and initiatives that support career mentorship and exploration that support overall economic development within the City of Hamilton. Projects have ranged from the Skilled Trades Alliance, to Education City, to Passport to Prosperity, to entrepreneurial programs, to full-scale career tradeshows, such as Careerapalooza. Current programs include Hamilton Code Club and MIGHTY.

IEC of Hamilton is committed to facilitating the discovery of viable pathways for all learners. As part of this commitment the IEC has developed experiential learning centered certification programs. IEC certifications are designed to support SHSM curriculum and develop basic soft skill in a variety of fields. The IEC is dedicated to supporting teachers through co-created SHSM curriculum and by facilitating engaging in class guest speaker sessions.
