Founded in 1848 - the first hospital in Hamilton - Hamilton General Hospital has grown to become a leading healthcare provider in the South Central Ontario region.  As a tertiary care centre, major clinical programs include:

Also located on the General campus is the Regional Rehabilitation Centre and the David Braley Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Research Institute.

The Regional Rehabilitation Centre provides care to stroke, spinal cord injury, amputee, trauma, neurobehavioural and acquired brain injury patients, and boasts a unique outdoor therapy track.

The David Braley Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Research Institute is home to the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) and the Thrombosis and Atherosclerosis Research Institute (TaARI), enhancing cardiovascular research. The PHRI conducts and co-ordinates international clinical trials to improve the health of people in Hamilton and around the world.
