‘What do I need this for?’ That is the question young people often ask when they find it difficult to understand the applicability of their education in the real world. Career mentorship is one way of helping young people to find answers to this question. Career mentorship also provides students with the opportunity to explore their interests and make an informed decision about what they want to do in the future.
To provide youth with a firsthand glimpse of their chosen future career, IEC has created a two years Career Mentorship program. The project is funded until November 2011 by The Ontario Trillium Foundation. This program recruits volunteer mentors from different walks of lives to provide experiential learning opportunities for young people within our community.
Mentors are encouraged to share knowledge of their career or sector to individuals or groups.
