“We get to know our co-op students, what they can do and what their aspirations are so when they finish their schooling it gives us a chance to consider hiring them”

Jennifer Banks, Director of Nursing
St. Joseph Villa
Career Mentor since 2011

Jennifer has been involved in career mentorship since 2011 because she, like so many other Hamiltonians, started off in a co-op program which helped her get into nursing.   Mentoring gave her the chance to explore whether or not nursing was the right career choice for her and today she is in a position to provide the same real life experience to students.

When asked what piece of advice she would give an employer who is thinking of participating in career mentorship, Jennifer replied “You should definitely do it!”

She sees the value that these activities bring to the organization and the individuals participating in the mentoring initiative.  “It creates a culture of learning and opportunities for growth and employment later on. Take advantage of your future employees and find out what they can and cannot do!”
