IEC and its program partners are now seeking inspiring mentors to attend one of two introduction sessions on Wednesday, July 9th or Wednesday, July 23rd from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Volunteer Hamilton Centre for Community Engagement located at 267 King Street East Hamilton, Ontario.
Do you share some of these qualities?
1. Willingness to share skills, knowledge, and expertise.
2. Demonstrates a positive attitude and acts as a role model.
3. Provides guidance and constructive feedback.
Mentorship may be the rewarding experience you have been waiting for.
The purpose of M.I.G.H.T.Y. is to demonstrate to the youth of Hamilton entrepreneurship as a viable career option. Youth participants will gain entrepreneurial experience through activities, workshops and mentorship. Youth participants will be given the tools and experience needed to turn their ideas and passions into a working small business.
The IEC has partnered with Volunteer Hamilton Centre for Community Engagement to assist in the recruitment of volunteer mentors. Volunteer Hamilton has over 40 years of mentorship experience through their Bay Area Leadership program and is the city’s leader in volunteer recruitment. Volunteer Hamilton will also seek Bay Area Leadership graduates to participate in the M.I.G.H.T.Y. mentorship program.
Mentors will provide support and guidance to youth participants throughout the program and can assist the M.I.G.H.T.Y. Program in a variety of ways, including group presentations and one-to-one mentorship opportunities. While an entrepreneurial background is an asset, it is not a requirement.
