Hamilton Code Clubs

Hamilton Code Club is an innovative program adopted from a similar initiative run in the UK. The club offers students, in Grades 6-8, the opportunity to learn simple software programming language, allowing them to explore the world of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).

We recruit ICT professionals and post-secondary students to facilitate the delivery of the clubs. Mentors visit the school to help motivate and inspire while sharing their education and career journey as students create their own video games and apps!

Our Goals:

·        Create a spark of interest in ICT

·        Equip students with an introductory foundation in software programming

·        Develop critical thinking, collaboration, and creative thinking skills

·        Encourage continued educational achievement beyond high school

Hamilton Code Club is supported by an ABACUS grant from the Hamilton Community Foundation. ABACUS aims to increase post-secondary access by focusing on children in the middle-school years.
